When Our Complexity Yields Simplicity It Will Lead Us To Our Eternal Essence

“You cannot think something unless you can talk about it.” - Ludwig Wittgenstein

Complexity relates to the inseparable expression of our thinking and knowing through words. This is the most potent “shadow” currently driving all of humanity and is a result from the mind seeking to control its environment. The more the mind seeks to feel secure the more complicated and unsafe it becomes. Ultimately misunderstanding transpires resulting in division from speaking the wrong things or speaking at the wrong time.

Buddha taught this through his concept, “Right Understanding leads to Right Speech” as our words flow directly out of our understanding. Words carry the power to generate volatile emotions and when one speaks from complexity it complicates the situation which generates misunderstanding that carries the power generate intense emotional responses rooted in primal tribal fear responses of being excluded from others. The fear of this drives the behavior that manifests this fear.

When bound by this fear communication can feel like a stuck record or that you’re having to talk at someone compared to with someone when you’re unable to give a clear answer and can feel like you’re being talked at and not talked with which can cause the listener to feel uncomfortable and lead them to walk away or interrupt. When someone is not clear in their own understanding they can communicate as if the other should have clear understanding of what one has going on on the inside.

The key to all of it is timing. Our brains hear one thing in our head and translating that into words is another matter which generates difficult speech patterns from speechless to the inability to stop speaking. This generates situations that are not harmonized to the listener and it can seem as if there is a misfire as the subtle timing and layers of intonations within our creates many layers of intonations of the words compared to the words themselves which happens at a level beyond our awareness.

One’s success does not depend on what was said, it depends on the heart of the one speaking and the one listening. If fear drives the words, even if spoken perfectly or beautifully, they can not be fully absorbed by the listener and sets them up to be misunderstood and lead to results that are dangerous and destructive.

One who speaks and listens in love, even if what is being said doesn’t make sense, the general sense of what is being said can still be understood.

All major religions and the division we experience today is rooted in this misfiring of words brought into form. For example, the words of Jesus Christ were spoken with pure simplicity and has subsequently been transformed into something incredibly complex and the opposite of their true intention by those who not physically present to the original words. This is not just unfortunate, it is beyond devastating as it has become fuel for the most deadly and destructive behavior.

This causes us to be driven further apart resulting in the complexity we experience leading us to feel unsafe driving further division. This is all to make us aware that we cause our own suffering to bring about right understanding which leads us to simplicity.

If one is bound by the repressive side of complexity it results in being chocked by fear struggle to speak if at all which results in silence or superficiality resulting in the inability to never truly express what they really think due to internal repression or external oppression. This is common for children with oppressive parents. The definition of dumb means temporarily unable or unwilling to speak and culturally it has took on the meaning to lack of intelligence due to how people in this state are perceived. Whenever you see someone or a society seeking to keep others silent, you are seeing this at work through fear.

If one is bound by the expressive side of complexity is results in one unable to stop talking as all energy is spent trying to be heard which results in them being pushed away due to language partners that complicate their communication. This could look like talking in circles, saying the wrong thing, speaking at the wrong time or over-explaining. Due to this interference fragmentation is created within their communication dynamics.
